POSITION ROOM

All 22 Pokémon positions, explained by the job

Use the original creator’s public scouting priorities to compare visible stats, size and type. The exact grading weights remain private, so this guide names categories instead of inventing percentages.

HOW TO READ THE TABLE

“Key” is public; a percentage is not

The scouting guide groups an attribute as key, helps, a small part or doesn’t count. It also lists small type bonuses. That language is the evidence boundary. A Psychic type may settle a close quarterback comparison, for example, but the creator explicitly says type cannot rescue a poor statistical fit.

Height only contributes at WR, TE and CB, with the creator noting a cap around 7′3″. Weight matters most on OL, NT, DT and FB, with smaller value at HB, DE and TE. It uses a sliding scale, so doubling from a light weight matters more than adding the same number of kilograms to an already massive Pokémon.

Scroll horizontally on a narrow screen. “None listed” means no trait appears in that category, not that the position has no requirements.

Electivire official artwork

SPECIAL POSITION

Kicker sits outside the challenge Team Score

The original scouting guide states that Kicker is not part of a challenge’s Team Score. In the playable games, Special Attack and Attack make the strongest legs. Electivire is shown only as an illustrative high-Attack candidate, not as a published best kicker. The Builder can turn Kicker on or off, and the position should not be counted among the 11 offense plus 11 defense starters.

Five scouting mistakes to avoid

  1. Drafting by main-series reputation. The football fit uses base stats, size and type, not move sets, abilities or competitive tier.
  2. Treating type as the main rule. The published guide calls it a small bonus. Compare the key traits first.
  3. Ignoring formation legality.A slot receiver cannot fill a Fullback board, and a 4–3 needs DT/MLB rather than NT/two ILBs.
  4. Putting every heavy Pokémon on the line.Weight is important, but OL also needs Defense and HP; DT and NT have different priority mixes.
  5. Inventing a precise fit percentage. The exact numbers are intentionally private. Use qualitative comparisons or the original game’s final challenge score.
